How Many Angels
Does It Take: The Remarkable Life of Heather Brooks is
the story of two extraordinary women, Heather Rose Brooks and her
mother, Dr. Janice Strang, plus the people who have helped them
throughout Heather's life. Heather is known for driving a
horse-drawn carriage with her feet. This incredible accomplishment
required a host of angels of the earthbound variety and a lot of
hard work and persistence on Heather’s part.
Although Heather has a displaced hip, breathing problems, and can't
use her arms, speak plainly, or turn her head, she danced in her
wheelchair at her senior prom. She's traveled to Germany and Canada.
And best we can determine by contacting national organizations for
therapeutic horse programs, she's the only person in the US driving
a carriage with her feet, and maybe the only person in the world.
Read about over 70 people, the "angels" in Heather’s life—her camp
counselors, teachers, health care professionals, neighbors,
relatives, and more. The book is filled with stories—some funny,
some amazing, and others touching. It would be of special interest
to health care professionals, teachers, horse lovers, single
moms, and anyone who knows someone with CP or similar disabilities. Soft cover, 143
pages, 5
½ x 8"
