Model Wheels for Horse-Drawn Vehicles |
The wheels are the most difficult part to make for your model horse drawn vehicle. If you decide you do not want to make your own, I have a few sources
for wheels. Prices will depending on how authentic you want your wheels to look
and what materials that are used to make them. The main source at this point
is from England - these will fit many of the vehicles from the John Thompson
plans. The wood wheels are made of hardwood and are authentic,
with hardwood spokes drilled into the felloe. They are hand cut and assembled. Minimal sanding will be
needed before being stained or painted.
The other wheels below are plastic and composition type
wheels. I only keep a few of these wheels in stock at this point - larger
orders may require two weeks for me to fill.

are in mms unless other wise noted. |

Sizes B100, D105, and E155 have six
segments and 12 spokes.
Sizes C120, and F180 have 14 spokes and should
have 7 segments. The smaller size A70 is no longer available. |

for wheel sizes other than these and a couple other British farm wagons. I
am not a builder - just the provider - and can not offer much help. |

Plastic Moulded Wheels

These wheels come in only 2 sizes, the small are 48mm diameter by 3.2mm wide
rims and 12 spokes. The Large wheel is 72mm diameter by 3.2mm wide with 14
spokes.
These are about 1 13/16 inch for the small wheel and 2 3/4 inch for
the larger wheel. The tire is about 1/8 inch wide and the hole for the axle
is about 1/16 inch. |

| Scale Model Wood Finish
Plastic Wheels |

All plastic wheels are made to give an authentic
wood finish and feature a true scale turned hub, drilled for 1/4" axle. The rims
give the appearance of felloes, and the spokes are shaped. They will accept
brass rims, and can be painted any color. They come dark brown as pictured. They
are about 5/8" wide at the tire. There is a typical dish to the wheels. |
